There are three plans popularly recommended.
Plan A. Between Chongqing and Yichang

Plan B. Between Chongqing and Wuhan
This plan is the most comfortable and convenient way of cruising. The down stream cruise takes 3-4 nights and 4 days, and the upstream cruise takes 5 nights and 6 days. There are good airports in both Chongqing and Wuhan from where you can take plane to most of the big cities in China. When sailing between Shashi (Jingzhou) to Wuhan, you will learn more about the Chinese history because Jingzhou and Chibi are two very famous historic sites. Of course this plan will cost more, from US$50 to US$150, according to different ships.

Plan C. Between Chongqing and Shanghai / Nanjing
Victoria Cruises provide the "Grand Yangtze Discovery" cruises between Chongqing and the end of the Yangtze - Shanghai. The downstream cruise takes 8 days and 7 nights, and the upstream cruise takes 10 days and 9 nights. For those who have plenty of time and really like cruising, this is a very good vacation. Plan D has 4 more land excursions: Mountain Lu (Lushan), the Yellow Mountain(Huangshan) and Nanjing City.
